Welcome to Wood Gormley Elementary School!

Wood Gormley Elementary School has united with the community throughout its history to provide every student with a high-quality education and multiple  opportunities to meet or exceed challenging grade-level math and reading standards. In a safe, caring,  and respectful environment, we expect, through our collective efforts, student readiness for the next  grade, career, and college. The core values that unite our community include that a high-quality  education is a fundamental civil right of every student, teaching/learning is the core of our work,  parents/guardians are our partners, every adult is responsible for the academic success of our students,  most students have the intellectual capacity to master complex material, and there is no quick fix;  therefore, we must work each and every day supporting student learning. Our students enjoy daily art,  library, music, and/or band classes, and a variety of extracurricular activities sponsored by parents and  our Parent Teacher Committee. Parents are an integral part of our community and play a large role in  the school’s successful history. This history includes being named in 2017 as a prestigious Blue Ribbon  School by the U.S. Department of Education, affirming the hard work of students, educators, families,  and the community in creating a safe and welcoming school where students master challenging  content.

Aftercare Update!
I am pleased to announce that our aftercare program will begin on Monday, Aug. 30th.  We will be able to start off by offering aftercare Monday through Thursday only. We will not be able to offer aftercare on Fridays as we don’t have the staffing for that yet. If you have already registered, our aftercare coordinator will be calling you to let you know.  At this point, if you have not registered, aftercare is on a first come first serve basis so we will allow students to join as we have enough staffing.  The registration form is here. (It says 2019-20 but please use that one) Christine Walsh, our school nurse aide, will be our coordinator and contact person. Her email is cwalsh@sfps.k12.nm.us and phone number is 467-4805.
