Welcome to Wood Gormley Elementary School!


Wood Gormley Elementary School has united with the community throughout its history to provide every student with a high-quality education and multiple  opportunities to meet or exceed challenging grade-level math and reading standards. In a safe, caring,  and respectful environment, we expect, through our collective efforts, student readiness for the next  grade, career, and college. The core values that unite our community include that a high-quality  education is a fundamental civil right of every student, teaching/learning is the core of our work,  parents/guardians are our partners, every adult is responsible for the academic success of our students,  most students have the intellectual capacity to master complex material, and there is no quick fix;  therefore, we must work each and every day supporting student learning. Our students enjoy daily art,  library, music, and/or band classes, and a variety of extracurricular activities sponsored by parents and  our Parent Teacher Committee. Parents are an integral part of our community and play a large role in  the school’s successful history. This history includes being named in 2017 as a prestigious Blue Ribbon  School by the U.S. Department of Education, affirming the hard work of students, educators, families,  and the community in creating a safe and welcoming school where students master challenging  content.

Remind is Coming!

If you're not already familiar with Remind, it's a classroom communication tool that makes it easy to stay involved with your child's learning. Remind is free to use, and you'll be able to get and send messages on any device-even a simple text message from your phone! As part of this rollout, official accounts will be created for all the educators, parents/guardians, and students at SFPS. On November 12th, you'll receive an email or text message from Remind. All you need to do is follow the steps in the message to finish setting up your ac- count. Click on the "Learn More" button for more infor- mation. You can also click on the "Get App" button to download the app! We're excited to make connecting with our families more engaging! Need more information on this flyer?  Santa Fe Independent Youth League
The SFIYL will be overseeing girl's basketball, boy's basketball, and cheerleading. They hire coaches, take registration, and plan the practices and game schedules. You can go to their website or contact Melvin Chavez 577-0911 or Bill Garcia 690-4842 for information.

Tutoring and Clubs: The current tutoring/club weekly schedule is live on our website. It is under the tab “Daily Announcements”.  As we add tutoring sessions and clubs, we will post those on this link and keep it updated weekly.  We have added a few new clubs this week so please take a look!




21-22 School Schedule M-Th:  School starts at 7:50 am and ends at 2:50 pm Fridays:  School starts at 7:50 am and ends at 12:30 pm


 

Covid Safety Information

Click here for information on covid-safety protocol if your child has symptoms and/or is sent home from school. If your student is asked to test for Covid and/or quarantine, they will be marked excused absent. Any student who is required to quarantine or isolate will be provided with a plan to complete school work at home and their absences will be excused for the duration of their isolation or quarantine period. Please communicate with your child's teacher regarding school work and attendance.


Aftercare Update!
I am pleased to announce that our aftercare program will begin on Monday, Aug. 30th.  We will be able to start off by offering aftercare Monday through Thursday only. We will not be able to offer aftercare on Fridays as we don’t have the staffing for that yet. If you have already registered, our aftercare coordinator will be calling you to let you know.  At this point, if you have not registered, aftercare is on a first come first serve basis so we will allow students to join as we have enough staffing.  The registration form is here. (It says 2019-20 but please use that one) Christine Walsh, our school nurse aide, will be our coordinator and contact person. Her email is cwalsh@sfps.k12.nm.us and phone number is 467-4805.

Free Breakfast and Lunch for All Students

 

Santa Fe Public Schools is happy to announce that breakfast and lunch will be offered free of charge to all students attending school for the 2021-2022 school year!

This means that free and reduced-price applications do not need to be completed.

The free meals are being offered under the COVID-19: Child Nutrition Response waiver that extends the summer meal program through 2021-2022. 

We look forward to seeing and serving our students in the upcoming school year.
